Automations (Android)

The Automations screen lists all your active automations. Open it from the drawer (☰ → Automations) or from the Today’s Automations card on the Live Dashboard.

Grid Getter supports four automation types. All four are available on the Android app.

Runs a battery reserve or energy mode change at a specific time on selected days of the week. Use this to pre-position your battery before peak hours or to take advantage of off-peak rates.

Automatically adjusts your battery reserve during utility peak rate windows. Configure your utility’s on-peak hours and the app handles the rest.

Monitors your grid draw during a demand period and discharges your battery to keep you below a target demand threshold. Grid charging is also paused during the demand window so Tesla can’t quietly pull from the grid mid-period. Requires a DemandGuard subscription.

Watches your battery level and charges from the grid when it drops below a percentage you set. Runs during the time windows you configure — great for pre-charging before peak hours or maintaining a minimum overnight reserve. Requires a Premium subscription.

See the web docs automations section for full configuration details — the settings and options are identical between the app and the web.

Tap the + button or Create automation on the Automations screen to start.

Each automation card has a toggle switch. Tap it to enable or disable the automation without deleting it.

Tap an automation card to open its detail view. From there you can edit settings or delete the automation.

DemandGuard has additional settings accessible from the Live Dashboard (DemandGuard → Configure) or from Settings → DemandGuard Configuration (if you have a DemandGuard subscription).

Settings include:

  • Target demand threshold (kW)
  • Demand period (the time window DemandGuard monitors)
  • Queries per minute (how often DemandGuard checks grid draw during a period)
  • Respect Tesla’s Storm Watch — pause DemandGuard when Tesla Storm Watch is active and leave grid charging unrestricted so Storm Watch can pre-charge for emergencies
  • Grid charging paused during the demand window — automatic, no setting required
