Home Screen Widgets
Grid Getter widgets show your Powerwall on your home screen, so you can check it without opening the app. The iPhone and Android apps have the same widgets, in small, medium, and large sizes.
Adding a widget
Section titled “Adding a widget”- Sign in to the Grid Getter app on your phone at least once. The widgets use that session.
- iPhone: touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen, tap Edit (or +), then search for Grid Getter. Android: touch and hold an empty spot, tap Widgets, then find Grid Getter.
- Pick a widget and size, then place it.
If the widget can’t find a session, it shows Sign in and “Open Grid Getter to connect your Powerwall.” Open the app, sign in, and the widget fills in on its next refresh.
The widgets
Section titled “The widgets”| Widget | Size | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Right now | Small or medium | One sentence on what your Powerwall is doing |
| Peak and battery | Medium | Grid draw against your target, with battery and home load |
| Today | Large (4×4 on Android) | Live status, your battery, and what’s coming up |
| DemandGuard | Small | Grid draw against your target while DemandGuard holds peak |
| Battery | Small | Charge level, whether it’s charging or discharging, and your backup reserve |
| Live power flow | Small | Home load and where the power is coming from |
| Last month’s savings | Small | What Grid Getter saved you last month, for example “Saved in October” |
| Pre-peak charge | Small | Battery level against your Pre-Peak target |
| Up next | Small | The next thing Grid Getter will do |
When there’s nothing to report, the widget says so. DemandGuard reads Not set up with no DemandGuard rule, and Up next reads Nothing upcoming.
Changing what a widget shows
Section titled “Changing what a widget shows”Every small and medium widget opens on its own view, and you can switch it to any other view of the same size. Each placed widget keeps its own choice, so you can have two small widgets showing different things.
- Small views: Right now, DemandGuard, Battery, Live power flow, Last month’s savings, Pre-peak charge, Up next.
- Medium views: Right now, Peak and battery, Up next, Live power flow, and Two tiles, which puts two small views side by side. Pick Left and Right for the tiles.
iPhone: touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, and choose a View. Left and Right appear once you pick Two tiles.
Android: touch and hold the widget and tap the reconfigure button. Choose view opens. Pick a view, then tap Done.
The large Today widget has only one view, so there’s nothing to switch.
Widgets that need a plan
Section titled “Widgets that need a plan”Battery and live power work on every plan. Some views need a paid plan:
| Shows | Plan |
|---|---|
| Live demand (DemandGuard, Peak and battery) | Adaptive |
| Pre-Peak target | Adaptive |
| Monthly savings | Scheduled and above |
| Your schedule (Up next) | Scheduled and above |
A locked view still appears. It shows a lock, what the view does, and which plan unlocks it, for example Live demand · Adaptive. On a view that mixes free and paid data, a locked row replaces just the paid part. Tap a locked view to open the subscription screen in the app.
See Subscription Tiers for what each plan includes.
How often widgets update
Section titled “How often widgets update”Your phone decides when widgets refresh, so they don’t update every second like the app.
- iPhone: about every 5 minutes, when iOS allows it. The age label moves on between refreshes (“Just now”, “4m ago”).
- Android: about every 15 minutes, while at least one Grid Getter widget is on your home screen.
If a refresh fails, the widget keeps the last numbers it had and marks them as old. On iPhone, numbers more than 15 minutes old read Last known, followed by their age. If the widget has never loaded your site, it shows No data yet.
For live numbers, open the app. Grid Getter also has watch apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS.
