Apple Watch and Wear OS
The Grid Getter watch apps put the question “is my battery okay and is DemandGuard doing its job” on your wrist. There is an Apple Watch app for iPhone users and a Wear OS app for Android users. Both show the same pages, and you swipe between them.
Signing in
Section titled “Signing in”The watch signs in through your phone. Open the Grid Getter app on your phone once, signed in, and the watch picks up your session. After that it works on its own, even when your phone is away.
If the watch has no session, it shows Open Grid Getter on your iPhone (or Open Grid Getter on your phone on Wear OS). If you sign out on your phone, the watch signs out on its next sync.
The pages
Section titled “The pages”The first page is always the overview. The rest follow the order you set in Reordering pages.
| Page | What it shows | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | Rings for your battery, home power and Pre-Peak charge, plus your demand reading while DemandGuard is holding | Every plan |
| Summary | Your next event, a one-line status of how your system is doing, your home power and last month’s savings | Every plan. The next event and savings need Scheduled or above |
| DemandGuard | Whether DemandGuard is holding your demand under its target | Adaptive |
| Battery | Battery level, whether it is charging, discharging or idle, and how fast | Every plan |
| Live | Your live solar, home, grid and battery power | Every plan |
| Upcoming | What Grid Getter has coming next, such as your next peak window or automation | Scheduled and Adaptive |
| Pre-Peak Charge | Whether a Pre-Peak charge is planned or running, and how much power it is drawing from the grid | Adaptive |
Battery: “Reaches reserve”
Section titled “Battery: “Reaches reserve””When your battery is discharging above your reserve, the Battery page can show the time it is expected to reach reserve, and whether that is after peak. This time appears only when Grid Getter knows your pack size. If it does not, you see the direction and power only.
The Summary page shows last month’s savings, labeled with the month (for example “Saved in October”), for Scheduled and above. It is not a running figure for today.
Pages that need a plan
Section titled “Pages that need a plan”Pages your plan does not include still appear. They say which plan unlocks them, followed by Upgrade on your phone. The watch cannot open the upgrade screen itself, so finish the upgrade in the Grid Getter app on your phone.
- DemandGuard and Pre-Peak Charge need the Adaptive plan.
- Upcoming needs the Scheduled plan or above.
- Overview, Summary, Battery and Live work on every plan. On the Free plan, Summary leaves out the next event and savings and shows your status and home power.
See Subscription Tiers for what each plan includes.
Reordering pages
Section titled “Reordering pages”- On your phone, open Settings > Watch.
- Use the arrows to move pages into the order you want. On iPhone you can also hold and drag.
To take a page off your watch, swipe left on it. You can add it back from the same screen.
The order is saved to your account, so it applies to your watch after a reinstall too. The overview is always first and cannot be moved. Summary starts right after it, even if you set your order before Summary existed, and you can move or hide it like any other page. Changes show up on the watch’s next refresh.
Fresh and stale data
Section titled “Fresh and stale data”The watch refreshes when you open it and about once a minute while it is open. In the background, the watch updates when its operating system allows.
If the data is old or the watch cannot reach Grid Getter, it shows the time of the last update instead of live numbers. It never shows made-up numbers. Open the app again, or check that the watch has a connection, to refresh.
The same pages are available as home screen widgets on your phone.
