Powerwall Batteries
The Batteries page shows what the gateway reports about each battery pack, instead of one blended number for the whole system. You’ll find it under Explore → Batteries, or at app.gridgetter.com/powerwall/batteries.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”The page reads from Powerwall Pairing, which links Grid Getter to your gateway so it can read pack-level data. Pairing is read-only. Grid Getter can’t change anything on your Powerwall through it.
Pairing is not the same as connecting your Tesla account:
| Tesla connection | Pairing | |
|---|---|---|
| Talks to | Tesla’s cloud, through your Tesla login | Your Powerwall gateway directly |
| Shows | Site totals and what Tesla reports | Each pack: charge, capacity kept, cell temperatures, alert codes |
| Setup | Sign in from anywhere | Once, in person at the Powerwall |
If you haven’t paired, the page still opens and shows that comparison, plus the three steps. The last step happens at the Powerwall: the gateway only accepts a new key while its switch is turned off and back on. Pair your Powerwall opens Settings → Integrations and starts pairing straight away, so press it when you’re near the switch. If you’re not at home, Pair later takes you back to Live. If a pairing is pending, timed out, failed, or was removed, the page says which and what to do next.
What each pack shows
Section titled “What each pack shows”Each pack is drawn as its own unit, with these readings:
- Charge is the pack’s stored energy as a percentage of its full capacity at that reading.
- Capacity compares what the pack can hold now with the first reading Grid Getter has for it. That’s the first reading we captured, not the day the pack was installed, so a pack that was already worn when you paired will look healthier than it is.
- On Powerwall 3, you also get the hottest and coolest cell temperatures, the shunt temperature, and the system’s heatsink, ambient and fan readings. Temperatures use your unit preference (Fahrenheit or Celsius).
- Further down: energy discharged, average cell capacity, firmware, the commissioning date, and on Powerwall 2 the AC voltage and inverter state.
Select a pack to see every reading. Hover a row for a second, or click or tap it, for a plain explanation of it.
If a system has four or more packs, they’re arranged in a carousel instead of a row.
Reserve
Section titled “Reserve”The reserve line on the day strip uses the same scale as the reserve setting in Grid Getter, so the number matches what you set.
Alerts
Section titled “Alerts”The gateway reports alerts as raw codes, for example SolarChargeOnlyLimited. The page shows each code exactly as the gateway sent it, with a one-line explanation beside it. Codes we haven’t written an explanation for yet say “No description yet” and still show the raw code, so you can look it up or send it to support.
Many alerts are informational, like the gateway holding your backup reserve. The ones that warrant a look get a dot on the pack they belong to.
Today, hour by hour
Section titled “Today, hour by hour”The page covers today only, from local midnight in your site’s time zone. There’s no date picker, and yesterday’s readings aren’t shown once today’s first one is in.
The gateway is read once an hour, at about seven minutes past. The strip along the bottom has one button per reading. Pick one to see every pack as it was at that time. Press Play to step through the day.
Early in the day there may be few readings, or none. Until the first one lands:
- Just after pairing, the page shows your progress: key added, waiting for the first reading (with a countdown), then hourly readings. It also lists what that first reading fills in.
- After midnight, if Grid Getter has read your Powerwall before, the page shows your packs as of the last reading: last charge, full capacity, change since the first reading, and capacity against the 13.5 kWh rating. Each value is labeled as last known, and charge reads “Waiting” until today’s reading. A strip shows which hour is next.
The page refreshes itself a minute after each scheduled reading.
Not reported
Section titled “Not reported”Not reported means the gateway didn’t give us a value for that pack at that hour. It’s not zero. A pack can drop out of a reading when the gateway can’t reach it at that moment. You’ll see a gap in the charge line, never 0%. The next hour usually fills back in.
Keyboard shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard shortcuts”| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ← / → | Move to the previous or next hour. With four or more packs, rotate the carousel to the previous or next pack instead |
| Space | Play or pause the day |
| Esc | Close the pack detail and go back to the system view |
Serial numbers
Section titled “Serial numbers”Pack serial numbers are hidden by default and shown as the last four characters only. Select Show next to a pack’s serial to reveal the full number. Grid Getter fetches it only when you ask, and doesn’t keep it once you leave the page. Hide masks it again right away.
