Display Mode

Display Mode turns Grid Getter into a fullscreen, always-on dashboard designed for wall displays, kiosks, and tablets. It shows your live power flow and — when DemandGuard is active — real-time demand metrics, so you can see what your system is doing without touching a keyboard.

There are two ways to launch it:

  • Expand icon — click the expand icon on the power-flow card. It’s visible to all signed-in users; clicking it opens Display Mode for eligible subscribers, or shows a short prompt explaining it’s a Premium feature (with a link to view plans) if your current plan does not include it.
  • Direct URL — visit app.gridgetter.com/live/display.

The page enters browser fullscreen automatically when it loads. To exit, press Esc or click the Exit · Esc button in the top-right corner of the display.

The center of the display is a live power-flow animation showing electricity moving between your solar panels, battery, home, and the grid — the same visualization as the Live Dashboard, scaled to fill the screen.

When a DemandGuard automation is active, a panel appears alongside the power flow showing:

  • Current demand — your real-time grid draw in kW
  • Target threshold — the demand limit your automation is protecting
  • Headroom — how much room you have before hitting the threshold
  • Interval progress — where you are in the current demand billing interval
  • Gauge displays — visual indicators for current demand, battery reserve, and headroom
  • Last automation action — the latest DemandGuard action logged during the current active run

If DemandGuard is not active (no automation configured, or outside its peak window), the panel shows your next scheduled automation instead — its name, when it runs (Today, Tomorrow, or in a few days), and the scheduled time.

Across the top of the display:

  • Status badge — shows your Powerwall’s current operating mode (Self-Powered or Autonomous). While a DemandGuard automation is actively managing your Powerwall, the badge reads DemandGuard instead, since DemandGuard — not your own mode setting — is in control
  • Current temperature — pulled from your site’s weather data, shown in the units you’ve chosen in Settings → Profile
  • Live clock — the current time, updated every second
  • Current date

Display Mode follows your app’s light/dark setting:

  • Light app theme → Light display — a clean, bright layout suited for well-lit rooms
  • Dark app theme → Kiosk display — a pure-black background that minimizes screen glare in dim environments

You can override the theme with a URL parameter regardless of your app setting:

ParameterResult
?theme=lightLight display
?theme=kioskKiosk (black) display

Example: https://app.gridgetter.com/live/display?theme=kiosk

Display Mode is built around a 1600 × 900 canvas that scales uniformly to fill your screen. On very wide or very tall screens (aspect ratio outside the expected range), the DemandGuard panel automatically repositions to keep everything readable.

  • Press Esc on the keyboard
  • Click the Exit · Esc button in the top-right corner

Either action exits fullscreen and navigates to the Live Dashboard (/live).
